These tours take you to some of the best snorkeling spots in Oahu, where you’ll have the chance to see green sea turtles, Hawaiian spinner dolphins, humpback whales from December – March,  and a variety of tropical fish.

The Best Places to See Sea Turtles in Waikiki

There are a few different places where you can see sea turtles in Waikiki. Some of the best spots include:

Waikiki Turtle Canyon is a shallow reef located just offshore of Waikiki Beach. It’s a popular snorkeling spot, as it’s a great place to see sea turtles, as well as a variety of other marine life. The reef is home to a number of sea turtles, including green sea turtles, hawksbill sea turtles, and leatherback sea turtles. You’re also likely to see a variety of tropical fish, such as angelfish, butterflyfish, and parrotfish. Waikiki Turtle Canyon is where we take our guests on our tour. In the morning, you have a higher chance of watching Hawaiian spinner dolphins from the boat.

This beach is located on the west side of Waikiki, and it’s another great place to see sea turtles. Ala Moana Beach Park is a large, open beach, so it’s a good place to spot turtles swimming in the distance.

How to Be a Responsible Turtle Spotter

If you’re lucky enough to spot a sea turtle in Waikiki, there are a few things you can do to be a responsible turtle spotter:

  • Don’t touch the turtles. Sea turtles are wild animals, and they should be treated with respect. Touching a turtle can stress them out and even injure them.
  • Keep your distance. Sea turtles need their space, so it’s important to give them plenty of room. Don’t get too close to them, and don’t chase them. At least 10 feet (3 meters) away—on land and in water.
  • Be quiet. Sea turtles are sensitive to noise, so it’s important to be quiet when you’re around them. Talking loudly or making other noises can disturb them.
  • Dispose of your waste properly. Turtles can mistake plastic for food, so it’s important to dispose of your waste properly. Don’t leave anything behind that could harm a turtle.

Snorkeling with Sea Turtles in Waikiki

If you want to get up close and personal with sea turtles, you can take a snorkeling tour. These tours take you to some of the best snorkeling spots in Oahu, where you’ll have the chance to see turtles swimming in their natural habitat.

When you’re snorkeling with sea turtles, it’s important to be respectful and follow the guidelines above. Remember, these are wild animals, and they should be treated with care.
