Get a ride to Swim with Dolphins on the 4-by-4 of the ocean
Our zodiac-style inflatable raft (the same design trusted by the Navy) cuts through open water faster than anything else on the west coast of Oahu. We use that speed to go further offshore, into deep pelagic water, where the dolphins are. You’ll jump in with them multiple times, snorkel with sea turtles and reef fish, and spend a morning on the ocean that feels nothing like a typical tour. Built for adventure seekers who want the real thing and the best chance at dolphin sightings in their natural habitat.
-
This tour is perfect for adventure seekers and experienced swimmers, with three different stops for marine life encounters during the tour (conditions permitting). This is our fastest boat, referred to as the 4×4 of the ocean. It is a zodiac-style raft – the same kind used by the Navy! The boat’s speed makes the ride itself a thrill, and it allows us to venture further offshore to see more unique pelagic marine life.

Yes, we do! You will be outfitted with a mask and fins shortly before we arrive at our snorkel destination.
If you’ve never used snorkel gear before, don’t worry. You can ask our crew any questions you have about how to breathe through a snorkel, how to keep a mask secure or how to use your fins in the water. Prescription masks are available (please contact our office in advance to confirm availability: (808) 636-8440).
You are also welcome to bring your own snorkel gear, if you prefer.
-
Please wear a swimsuit. You can put them on under your outfits before leaving to the harbor. We also recommend bringing a beach towel, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and a long sleeve jacket or sweatshirt. You might also consider motion sickness medicine (It is most effective to take the pill an hour before leaving the hotel), a water-proof case or bag for your belongings and a reusable water bottle. Please be advised that your belongings may get wet.
This tour Includes lunch, snacks & water. You are also welcome to bring your own food and drinks. Alcohol is allowed as long as it is not in a glass bottle.
-
This is an ocean tour recommended for guests who will be comfortable swimming in deep water (you can wear a lifejacket). If you cannot, the crew may ask you to watch from the boat for your safety.
Our catamaran dolphin swim and dolphin watch is a perfect alternative that is better suited to all ages and all skill levels.
If you or anyone in your party is interested in experiencing this tour but not interested in snorkeling, we also offer a ‘Ride Along’ ticket at a discounted price.
-
Our speedboat allows for up to 20 guests on board.
-
Yes! Transportation is available from major hotels in Waikiki and Ko’Olina at no extra cost.

Check-in is 30 minutes before your tour’s scheduled departure (7:00 AM for first departure / 10:30 AM for second departure). Arrival and check-in is at Waianae Small Boat Harbor. Meet us at the front of the restroom (the building with the orange roof). Please park your car on the right (West) side of the harbor parking lot. Our vessel is Dolphin Warrior.
-
Our speedboat dolphin swim most often sees spotted dolphins or bottlenose dolphins. We sometimes see more rare species of dolphins. We also often see sea turtles, coral and tropical fish. Please note that because our tour operates in nature with wild animals, marine life sightings are not guaranteed.
-
Please be aware that because dolphins are wild animals, sightings are not 100% guaranteed. In the case of no dolphins, you may reschedule for the next available tour for a 50% tour fee from the regular price.
-
The Marine Mammal Protection Act regulations prohibit feeding, attempting to feed, and harassing marine mammals in the wild. Touching and/or feeding wild marine life in Hawaii is against the law.
-
Yes, our tour operates legally. NOAA regulations prohibit anyone from swimming with Hawaiian Spinner Dolphins within 2 nautical miles from the shore, because this is where they rest during the day.
For this reason, we venture further offshore (2-3 miles) to snorkel in the water with other species of dolphins that are not resting during the day. Most commonly we swim with Spotted or Bottlenose dolphins. Operating in this way is perfectly legal and aligns with NOAA’s regulations.
-
We have strict procedures to ensure respectful interactions with the dolphins, ensuring that we swim with the dolphins on their terms. We don’t allow diving down or swimming at the dolphins, as this can scare them. We stay together in a group at the surface of the water and allow the dolphins to approach us. This is how we have the most magical encounters. Dolphins are quite curious and will often swim right up to us!
-
Please be aware that because dolphins are wild animals, sightings are not 100% guaranteed. In the case of no dolphins, you may reschedule for the next available tour for a 50% tour fee from the regular price.
-
The tour is 3 hours from start to finish. We recommend having some flexibility on return time, as we sometimes stay out a little late on this tour to maximize encounters with marine life.
-
For the health and comfort of all our guests, Smoking is strictly prohibited on our tours. Please refrain from smoking during the duration of the tour. Vaping is permitted. Please be respectful of other guests on board.

For a full refund, call (808) 636-8440 up to 48 hours before the tour. In case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, customers will also receive a full refund. No-shows will be charged the full price. With a doctor’s note, you will be able to receive a full refund after the designated cancellation period if the doctor’s note applies only to the person who holds the note. If the person with a doctor’s note is a minor, we will honor one adult as guardian for full refund.

Tipping is not necessary but extremely appreciated! If you enjoyed your experience with us, we recommend tipping the crew via Venmo or cash on the boat. As a rule of thumb, a 20% tip is the average gratuity in the U.S.
We also greatly appreciate our customer’s reviews on our Google Business, Yelp, and Trip Advisor. Your experience helps to inform future travelers.
